Peter Coyote Mask Workshop
Mask Workshop: Since infancy we have been addressed as a singular person. We have been told who we are and what we are like. We develop an ego, an inner ?I.? This ?I? has history, shortcomings, talents, anxieties and delusions. A mask is an exquisite device for sending this ego off on holiday and allowing the wearing to explore and discover new and latent personas that can have great freedom and a sense of invention. Relying on his skill and training as both a professional actor and a Zen teacher, Peter Coyote has developed a three hour workshop which will introduce participants to the rudiments of acting: posture, intention, movement, etc. and to the great freedom of working within a mask. By following masked participants with a mirror and reminding them of the ?new self? they represent in the mask, they are continually liberated to new dimension, and freed to new levels of experimentation.
