SUMMARY:Queer Hangout: Political EnGAYgement
DESCRIPTION:Queer Hangout (formerly Queer Meetup!) is back with a new name and a political enGAYgement theme in time for the March primaries!\n\nCome meet other queers in an environment that unapologetically celebrates queer joy and builds real community. Everyone under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella is welcome and will be celebrated!\n\n\n\nSnacks\, specialty cocktails\, and non-alcoholic drinks will be available as we hear from Lamont Robinson Jr.\, the first Black queer member of the Illinois legislature. Lamont will speak about initiatives he's working on and other political issues queer folks in Chicago should be aware of in 2020. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A!\n\nAfter we hear from Lamont\, we'll keep snacking\, drinking\, and chatting as we work on building our ballots and making plans to vote in the March 17 primary election. We know electoral politics isn't everyone's jam and can bring up issues around feeling disenfranchised\, and we'll make space for that conversation as well.\n\n \n\nAbout Our Guest Speaker: Lamont Robinson Jr.\n\nLamont Robinson Jr. was born and lives in Chicago\, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree in management and marketing from Clark Atlanta University in 2004\, and his MBA in business administration from National Louis University in 2012. Robinson's career experience includes owning and operating Robinson and Associates-Allstate. He is currently a member on the Board of Quad Communities Development Corporation. In 2019\, he became the first Black queer member of the Illinois legislature.
