SUMMARY:The Joys & Challenges of Aging Book Club with Carrie Waller
DESCRIPTION:Bloom's 2024 book club is announcing its final three books for this year. The book club\, facilitated by Carrie Waller\, focuses on the joys and challenges of aging. It meets six times over the course of one year (once every other month) and features six books covering a variety of aging-related topics. You can view the final three books in the series below. Each two-hour session starts with a gentle yoga practice\, transitions to a group discussion\, and closes with a short meditation. These sessions enable participants to build connections with others in the Bloom community who share similar their love of reading.\n\n\n \n\nNovember 18th\n\nCan't We Talk About Something More Pleasant? A Memoir\, by Roz Chast (2014)\n\nSelected as one of the New York Times' 10 Best Books of 2014\, Roz Chast's graphic memoir depicts her parents' final years\, her father\, 95\, her mother\, 97. The book is both funny and jarringly honest about the realities of declining health\, the limited and costly options for end-of-life care\, and the complexities of parent/child relationships. Even though this book is a graphic/cartoon novel\, don't be fooled into thinking you can read through it quickly\; it's better to read in multiple sittings to help process some weighty issues. The 2023 Bloom book club voted this book their favorite of the series.\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\nRegister Now
