Women in Buddhism: The Hidden Lamp
Dharma Seminar by Hogetsu Laurie Belzer We will discuss several stories from the long history of great Buddhist women practitioners and teachers along with insightful, personal commentaries by modern women teachers. using the book The Hidden Lamp: Stories from Twenty-Five Centuries of Awakened Women, co-edited by Florence Caplow and Susan Moon. These stories are extraordinary expressions of freedom and fearlessness, relevant for men and women of any time or place. The depth and sheer vitality of these commentaries by modern women teachers is cause for celebration, displaying that we are now in a golden age of brilliant women spiritual guides. Hogetsu Laurie Belzer is the Ancient Dragon Zen Gate sewing teacher for Buddha?s robes. A founding member of ADZG, Hogetsu is a Soto Zen priest who has has served in a variety of temple positions.
