A Buddhist's Perspective on Earth's Changing Climate
We now recognize that humans are driving many of the changes in our planet?s climate in the last century, and that these changes have the potential to disrupt human societies worldwide. We will explore Buddhist responses to climate change in the context of Buddha's teachings of the Three Marks of Existence: impermanence, suffering, and no-self, which along with Buddhist precepts provide an ethical foundation for considering our response to the ongoing ecological crisis. Taisan Joe Galewsky co-leads the Valley Dragon Sangha, our affiliated group in Albuquerque, together with ADZG priest Keizan Titus O?Brien. Joe has been practicing in the lineage of Suzuki-Roshi for over 20 years and was priest-ordained by Zoketsu Norman Fischer in 2010. As a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of New Mexico, Joe specializes in climate issues. Sunday, October 11th, 10:10 am, following 9:30 Zazen Part of regular Ancient Dragon Zen Gate program. All are welcome www.ancientdragon.org
