Learn about the art of science of natural dyeing using fresh flowers with Ms. Amy Taylor at Indigo & Violet Studio. In this 3-hour workshop, we will explore the whimsical practice of dyeing with fresh flowers directly onto silk to create gorgeous watercolor-esque designs. Using all natural materials, we will experiment with various botanicals to create beautiful, sustainable fabrics, and learn the history and uses of natural dyes. This workshop is for anyone interested in learning how to create and work with natural colors in an eco-friendly, sustainable way. Students will walk away with a naturally dyed silk scarf and instructions on how to re-create this practice at home. No experience necessary. One silk scarf will be provided, but students are free to bring additional fabric they’d like to play with.
