Perceptual Motion, Inc. presents Dancing in the Square, a wonderfully eclectic evening of dance performance and dance lessons. Some of the area’s finest dance organizations, including Flamenco Arts Center and Perceptual Motion, Inc., will present performances followed by dance lessons. There also may be Go Go dancers, Hip Hop dancers and more! If you've always wanted to learn the rhythms of flamenco, how to express your thoughts in movement, or simply dance like no one is watching, here's your chance! Each group will perform and then teach the audience some fun new moves!
Info on two organizations you'll see below. More later!

“The spectrum of ages and movement ability creates an inspiring dichotomy-one that’s very robust yet calming; ethereal and real.” (Lucia Mauro - Chicago Tribune)
"Shook's connection to arcane, sophisticated science and art is fascinating. …clearly flush with ideas and innovation”. Sid Smith, dance critic
Perceptual Motion, Inc. is partially supported by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, the Ruth Page Foundation and individual donations. Our sponsors for Dancing in the Square 2016 are the NorthCenter Chamber of Commerce and MB Financial Bank.
FLAMENCO ARTS CENTER (www.flamencoarts.com), is located at 3755 North Western Avenue at Grace. It was started in 2000 by Cynthia Rosario, a long-time flamenco aficionada who was interested in creating a warm environment where flamenco can thrive and those interested in flamenco can meet each other, take classes, and have some fun. In 2002 Flamenco Arts Center's programming director Kathi Beste inaugurated the Chicago Flamenco Festival, which has been running in February each year since, presenting performances and workshops from around the world in venues all across Chicago. The studio was designed for flamenco and percussive dance, but also has resident teachers for tap, '60s Go-Go style, and Middle Eastern styles.
