FREE Black History Month Concert
Enjoy a free Concert highlighting African-American composers, in honor of Black History Month. Vocalists Ariel Andrew, Benjamin Burney, and Jade Dashá will be accompanied by pianist Paul Dykstra for “An Allegory of Hidden Figures,” the latest in the "Second Sundays" concert series of Concordia Church. The program, which highlights H.T. Burleigh, Florence B. Price, and other African-American artists whose prominence and achievements were overlooked due to their race, will reflect on these figures' lives, brought to life by the musical stylings of our operatic artists. “Second Sundays" is a FREE, monthly recital series occurring on the second Sunday of each month at noon at Concordia. This series showcases exceptional Chicago talents from the City’s vast local musical community, while offering an enriching and diverse range of musical genres and styles. Whether you're a classical music enthusiast, jazz aficionado, or lover of contemporary music and music theatre, you’ll find something for you in this series. Please note: Concordia Church Music Ministry also continues presenting its large-scale annual “Concordia Concerts” events; these “Second Sundays” concerts are additional events.
