ur favorite episodes of LGBTQIA+ TV
In June, Ghostlight shakes up its live movie reading series a bit and offers up Reading Out Proud: A Live Reading of some of our favorite episodes of LGBTQIA+ TV. This is a special Pride Month installment of the company’s ongoing live reading series. The lineup features “Artsy Fartsy” from Broad City and "Pawnee Zoo" from Parks and Recreation at 7 p.m. at Black Eagle Club (1938 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60613), in North Center. Broad City is a television sitcom about two women as they go through their daily lives in New York City with the smallest and mundane events become both hysterical and disturbing to watch. “Artsy Fartsy,” starts out with Abbi being invited to a fancy art event and Ilana and Lincoln having a one-year relationship check-in and ends up with Abbi asking out a woman, while Ilana realizes that she’s more a “polyamorous queen” and is not quite ready for the house, 2.5 children, etc. Parks and Recreation is a political satire/mockumentary television sitcom that follows the absurd antics of the public officials in a small Indiana town as they pursue various projects to make their city a better place. In “Pawnee Zoo,” the deputy director of the parks department becomes a political lightning rod when it turns out the penguin wedding she set up is for two male penguins. The live readings are directed by Justin Broom and Kayla V. White. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door, which will help Ghostlight fund its upcoming season.
