This workshop is for:

Absolute beginners who’ve never knit a stitch AND folks who’ve been exposed to knitting but could use a refresher are welcome.

What to bring
You will all work on the same project - the Cozy Cowl

MUST HAVES
55-120 yards of super bulky yarn. 55 yards for the short cowl, or 120 yards for the long one. (You’ll likely need to knit outside of class to finish the longer one by the end of the workshop).
Any fiber or color you love and which feels good next to your skin!
9mm straight or circular knitting needles (not DPNs)
A large tapestry needle

NICE TO HAVES
Scissors, crochet hook

FIRST CLASS
You will learn the basics and make mistakes. Before the end of class, you will rip out our practice stitches and re-use the yarn to cast on our project.

SECOND CLASS
Time to work on our projects, learn how fix mistakes without fear, and ask questions.

Fixing mistakes: tinking (knitting backwards to fix mistakes in the same row) and frogging (ripping out several rows to go way back) Joining yarn: how to start the next ball or skein
Knitting mindfully: discerning between concentration and focus

THIRD CLASS
Time to work on our projects, ask questions, and discuss the wide world of yarns and blocking.

Understanding yarn speak: dive into yarn weights, gauge, fiber content, twist, ply, and more!
Care and blocking: learn and see examples
Knitting mindfully: making time for contemplation

FOURTH CLASS
you will finish your projects (or leave class with the skills to do so).
