19TH DISTRICT COUNCIL UPDATES

GOAL PRIORITIZATION SURVEY:

District Council is a brand new body in Chicago (and national) government. We are the first to ever do anything like this so it is important that we all have clear goals and expectations around how we can best serve as your District Council Members. That is why we are asking for your input. We created this survey for you to share with your community group in the 19^th District to let us know what you want us to prioritize this new year.

WORKFORCE ALLOCATION STUDY:

As you are probably aware by now we are part of a broad group of city leaders and community members calling for a workforce allocation study of CPD. A workforce allocation study would take an in-depth, data-driven look into CPD’s workforce to understand how officers are distributed and map out how they can best be deployed going forward. It is an important step to making sure that we are most effectively using the resources we have available to us. Please read our letter here and sign on if you support this step.

APPLICATION TO CCPSA:

Starting Jan. 8, applications for the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability will be open. This is an exciting opportunity to actively participate in overseeing the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), and the Police Board.
